Custom steel fencing, measured and built on site
Tall steel privacy fence, slatted utility enclosures and cage enclosures for Yakima County businesses, built to the measurements of the site.
Chapter 01
Ten feet of steel in Union Gap, built to the measurement
In June 2026 the crew finished a custom steel fence ten feet high for a business in Union Gap. It is a dark-brown privacy run with double gates, set against a cinder-block wall. The crew had to set and build it to exact measurements, and that is how it was done.
When the job was posted, the shop said it plainly: sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone and do something new. A crew that has hung chain link since 1974 brought the same habits to steel, which means measuring first and setting the posts true.
A fence this tall is a different job from a yard fence. The posts carry far more wind load, the panels are heavy to handle, and a post that is a half inch out at the bottom is a full lean at the top. That is why the setting matters as much as the steel.

Utility, equipment and cage enclosures for commercial sites
Not every enclosure is a fence around a lot. Some of the work here is a small, tight space built to hold something: a utility or equipment area behind a concrete barrier, closed in with black slatted chain link, or a black chain link cage built right into an apartment entry.
Those jobs are all fit. The walls are already there, the dimensions are fixed by the building, and the enclosure has to meet them. Slats close the sight line to what is inside, and a cage keeps people out of a space they have no reason to be in.
Chain link is often the right material for this, in galvanized or black vinyl-coated. Steel panels are the right one when the site calls for a solid, taller wall. We will tell you which fits the space when we have seen it.
Chapter 03
How a custom job is measured and set
A custom steel job starts with a tape measure at the site, not a catalogue.
Before anything is built, someone walks the run, measures every length, and notes where the ground rises, where a wall or slab limits where a post can go, and where the gates belong. Corners and ends are marked as their own measurements, because they carry the load for the whole line.
Then the posts go in at the marked spacing, set and checked for plumb. The panels are built and set on site against those posts, so they follow the real ground and not a drawing of it. Gates are fitted last, once the line is true. Tell us the length, the height and where the gates go, and we will come and measure.
Custom work is measured on site. Call (509) 452-3000, Monday to Thursday, 8 AM to 4 PM, and describe the space.

Double gates like the ones on the Union Gap fence are covered on the gates and operators page. If the space calls for mesh instead of steel, the chain link page covers the tall commercial runs, and you can send us the site details whenever you are ready.
