Privacy slats that turn chain link into a screen
Viewguard and other slats woven through the fence you already have, or built into a new run. Screen a yard, a lot or an equipment area without tearing anything out.
Chapter 01
Why put slats on chain link
Chain link is open by design: you can see through it, and so can everyone else. When what sits behind the fence is a back lot, an equipment yard, a utility box or just a backyard you would like to use without an audience, slats turn the same fence into a screen.
Slats are strips that run vertically through the diamonds of the fabric, so they go on the chain link you already own as readily as on a new run. You do not have to tear out a sound fence and start over to get privacy, which makes slats the usual answer for yards, lots and commercial properties that already have chain link in the ground.
One honest note from the field: a slatted fence catches wind the way a sail does. Before slats go in, the crew looks at the posts, the top rail and the tension at the ends. A fence that was marginal as open mesh needs correcting first, and we would rather say so than hang slats on a fence that will lean.

The July 2026 Viewguard jobs
Viewguard is the one slat product we name, because it is the one we keep putting up. On July 24, 2026 the crew finished two privacy jobs in Yakima in brown Viewguard Plus: one at 6 ft high and one at 8 ft high.
Eight feet is a serious fence. At that height the posts, the top rail and the concrete under them carry real load, and the slats have to run straight from the first diamond to the last or the whole run looks crooked from the street. The crew pushed through a hot stretch of summer to finish both, and the result is a solid brown screen that reads as a wall from outside and still has the strength of chain link underneath.
Chapter 03
Colours, heights and what the yard keeps
The yard keeps privacy slats in several colours and heights, so a match for the fence you have is usually a counter conversation, not a special order. Brown and black are the ones you see most on our own jobs.
What is on the rack changes with the season, and summer is the busiest stretch for walk-in customers, so we do not print a stock list here. Call the counter, or bring your fence height and your footage when you come in. The people behind it build fence for a living and will tell you what is on hand.

Three jobs, one idea: close the view
A utility enclosure, a path-side fence and a back lot. Different sites, the same fabric underneath, and all of them started as plain chain link.

Need a screened fence with a way through it? Slatted chain link takes the same walk gates and drive gates as any other run, and our gate work is built to match the fence it hangs on. For a slat project of your own, start at the yard on Swier Lane.
